Being a creator from a young age in various forms whether it was art, music or design I naturally found myself using my STEM skills and creativity to design anything I could involve myself in. What solidified my interest in engineering as a career was the Energy Breakthrough project in high school, an inter high school competition to design and race a human powered vehicle. From there it was the FSAE race car team during my university years and finally landing my first professional engineering job at Holinger Engineering, designing high performance automotive components with notable projects such as Tony Quinn's "RTTS Extreme 4WD" high climb car driveline.

With the desire to continually learn and lead, I moved to the transportation industry at MaxiTRANS where I was able prove my leadership skills, mentoring a design team of up to 12 people and being accountable for the quality and success of a large range of products. My main achievement was rebuilding a team of mostly junior engineers after a shift in business direction, to form a high performing, reliable group of individuals.

Albins Performance Transmissions Gear Set

I've had a taste of defense force projects, taking a short term role as the project manager at Albins Performance Transmissions with my primary responsibly of delivering the end of the Land 121 phase 4 Hawkei contract. The role then diversified into business capacity planning, production management and continuous improvement projects. A key highlight was being responsible for managing the tendering process of the new Land 400 phase 3 contract.

My main full time work is as Engineering and Innovation Manager at AF Gason PTY LTD, an Australian owned and operated business since 1946. Gason has evolved and grown, earning a wide reputation for quality manufacturing guided by the family’s belief that if you build it well, it will last. Tackling a new challenge in the agricultural industry to continue to grow Gason legacy.

I also funnel all these career experiences into my own passion projects which has taken many forms over the years. Most notably AMPT MTB which has had the most traction in recent times. By combining the wide range of experiences and different facets of engineering accumulated over the years, it gives me the edge of remaining open eyed, receptive to new ideas on their merits, not getting tunnel vision, and can work out the best methods to make them a reality.

Throughout my career I have proven my ability in mechanical design while maintaining high customer relations, with roles that were highly flexible, requiring me to move between an office and manufacturing environment constantly. Combined with my leadership skills, I have managed  large groups of products and people with and a large range of responsibilities from sales enquiry stage, right through to the quality of design, project management, people management, scheduling, compliance, manufacturing liaison and after market support.
